How Madly, How Deeply

Precious Loved Ones of the Lord!
Beautifully Broken Redeemed Ones Wrapped in His Loving Arms!

What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And If he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. Matthew 18: 12-13

It’s when we truly see ourselves through the worst mistakes, or even active rebellions against the Lord, we have made, that we can really begin to grasp the width and breadth of the love of God.

For in Him bringing us back, we the sheep that wandered off, we see how much God wanted us and still loves us:
Because He notices we were gone.
Because He wanted to come find us.
Because He chose to come looking for us.
Because He didn’t give up on us.
Because He left His place, His only goal to bring us back
Because He wasn’t willing to live without us.

And through the bringing back, God literally coming to get us, finding us in our brokenness, finding us in our bad decisions, finding us in our blatant rebellion against Him:

We grasp how much He loves us.
We grasp that His love wasn’t based on our good performance.
We grasp that His love was bigger than our ignorance.
We grasp that His love was bigger than our defiance.
We grasp that His love was always based on His nature, His character, His heart, not what we did or didn’t do, or what we thought we should have done.
And through that, we receive the greatest freedom we could ever know, the wisdom of the love of God.

May we know that we know that we know, how madly, how deeply, how sweetly our Father loves us.
