The chief priests and the whole sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put Him to death. Mark 14: 55

If they could look for reasons for harming someone who spent all their time healing the sick, giving love, teaching healing peaceful truths, and giving incomprehensible compassion to everyone around them setting people free, then we can choose to look for reasons to love.

For if people have the ability to choose to look for bad then we also have the ability to choose to look for good, too.

We can look for reasons to love that person who cut us off in traffic, remembering that we have done that and maybe they have a good reason.

We can look for reasons to love that person who said the wrong thing at the wrong time because maybe they are struggling in much deeper ways than we know.

We can look for reasons to love ourselves when we don’t get it right because God said we were made in His image, and He doesn’t make mistakes and Jesus already paid for all our wrongs.

We can look for reasons to love God and Jesus by choosing to look at their character through the lens of the Bible, believing they are who they say they are as we read the Bible and see evidence of their love and mercy all throughout the pages, seeing their compassion on people, choosing to see all that God and Jesus have already given us, and already promised us.

May we know that we know that we know, we have the ability to choose to look for good and therefore be filled with that good in our thoughts and our hearts seeing the good all around us through the pages of Truth, Jesus Christ, and letting that filter color our lives and relationships.
