Longing to be Gracious
Disciples Who Jesus Loves!
Chosen Children of the Most High God!
As He approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her and He said “Don’t cry”. Luke 7: 13
Jesus said if we have seen Him, we have seen God our Father.
The Bible says that the Maker of Heaven and Earth is longing to be gracious to us, longing to be gracious.
In this instance, Jesus saw the widow in distress. He took her in, noticing her, understanding the whole situation. He saw her pain and His heart went out to her. Then our beautiful savior Jesus heals her son and gives him back to her.
For He is longing to be gracious to us.
For all throughout the gospel, we see Jesus showing compassion on those in need. No matter the type of need, whether it was wisdom they needed, physical healing, provision for food, or more, He provided. He healed everyone who came to Him. And its in seeing this, all the ways He saw and provided over and over again to those before us, we can see that He sees us and know He will provide. When we see how He tenderly acted with compassion on those before us, we can know that He sees and cares for our hearts. That He sees our circumstances. That He sees our needs and acts to meet them.
For He is longing to be gracious to us.
If He saw her and her situation, He sees us and our situation.
If His heart went out to her because of the circumstances, His heart goes out to us in our circumstances.
If He acted to help her and bless her, He will act to help us and bless us.
For He is longing to be gracious to us.
Since Jesus saw people in their distress and was moved to help them, over and over again, we can know that God, our Heavenly Father is watching everything that is happening in our lives, the needs in our hearts and more so, our Heavenly Father’s heart goes out to us and He makes provision for us.
For He is longing to be gracious to us.
May we know that we know that we know, that He longs to be gracious to us.
